In almost 65 years of operation, Kemppi has introduced new innovations to the market, pioneering the development of welding technology and solutions. In 2013, the company had a global revenue of EUR 111 million. Kemppi production plants are located in Finland and India. The company has over 620 employees. Kemppi is the first manufacturer of welding solutions in the world certified to ISO 3834-2. Kemppi has developed the most advanced application software for online welding quality and productivity management. The site in Lahti is connected to Helsinki by a modern highway. SSAB is a Nordic and US-based steel company that employs approximately 17,300 people in 50 countries. SSAB is a leading producer on the global market for Advanced High Strength Steels (AHSS) and Quenched & Tempered steels (Q&T), standard strip, plate and tubular products, as well as construction solutions. The Hämeenlinna site is part of the SSAB Europe division. The core products at Hämeenlinna site are colour- coated, galvanised and cold-rolled steels as well as tubes for use in vehicles, transportation equipment, electronic and household equipment, construction, etc. The city of Hämeenlinna is connected to Helsinki by a modern highway. Pemamek Oy Ltd designs, manufactures and sells PEMA branded production and welding automation solutions. PEMA solutions are used in different heavy metal fabrication, e.g. for panel welding in shipyards, tubular welding, boiler panel welding and welding of different multiform workpieces. Pemamek uses and produces hi-tech utilising the best available robot and automation technology with patented PEMA WeldControl systems. Experienced supplier of over 40 years, a financially solid company Pemamek has delivered comprehensive solutions to over 50 countries and over 15,000 different tailor-made equipment solutions. The site in Loimaa is connected to Helsinki by a modern highway. Meyer Turku is specialised in building cruise ships, car-passenger ferries, technically demanding special vessels and offshore projects. The biggest and the most innovative cruise ships in the world were developed designed and delivered from the Turku Shipyard. The shipyard is one of the biggest and most modern ones in Europe to build huge post-Panama class cruise vessels. The technical visit covers VTT Materials and Structures Research Hall in Espoo, which is only a few kilometres away from the main event venues and the hotels. will have the opportunity to see the welding technology research laboratory, WelDone, and view the, Aalto University Digital Design Laboratory which explores the potential of digital design and manufacturing technologies to create commercially viable, culturally-relevant and societally- valuable results by bringing together science, technology, art and economy. The Aalto University School of Engineering provides education and performs scientific and applied research oriented towards renewing Finland’s technology industries and sustainable development of the built environment.
